Templates are built on a flexible structure designed to accommodate various veterinary workflows. Here’s a breakdown:
(say that five times fast!)

🔸 Simple Sections are basic containers for Textboxes. They don't have Subsections. 🔸 Sections with Subsections provide a hierarchical structure for organizing your template.

Example: A template for a laceration might look like this
SECTION | Objective |
---|---|
****Subsection | Vitals |
****Field | • Name: Weight |
• Default Value: #INPUT# kg | |
****Field | • Name: Temperature |
• Default Value: #INPUT# °F | |
****Field | • Name: Heart Rate |
• Default Value: #INPUT# bpm | |
****Field | • Name: Respiratory Rate |
• Default Value: #INPUT# breaths/min | |
****Subsection | Physical Exam |
****Field | • Name: General appearance |
• Default value: BARH |
By understanding this structure, you can create highly customized templates that perfectly match your practice's needs.

Okay! Now let’s get into the juicy stuff: How do you actually create and use Templates?
VetScribe offers 3 pre-built, DVM-approved templates to cover common case types and help get you started:
You can also follow the instructions to create your own template!
Once you've created a template, the fun starts! You can use your templates to create a complete case note from one recording.
📝 Only use one recording per template! Additional recordings will overwrite the previous inputs
As always, your case notes are saved as-you-go to your VetScribe account, which you can access from any device.
Log into the web app (app.vetscribe.co - we recommend bookmarking this in your browser) using the same login credentials as your mobile app
Navigate to the case note you want to copy and click “Copy text”
Paste into your EMR system in desired case section (Ctrl+V / ⌘+V)
Repeat as needed!
VetScribe allows you to easily manage your collection of templates.
